ABOUT RAINS COUNTY

Rains County TX Real Estate and Homes for Sale by ALEX.realestate

Rains County is a charming and quaint location that stands as the second smallest county by land area in the state. Despite its small size, Rains County, established in 1870 and named after Emory Rains, a Texas state legislator, is rich in history and community spirit. Rains County offers a charming rural lifestyle, with a close-knit community, great outdoor activities, and an easy pace of life. Its proximity to larger cities also makes it a great spot for those who appreciate country living but occasionally enjoy city amenities. The county offers a safe, friendly, and welcoming environment for new families to the area. Welcome to Rains County!

Proximity: This rural county is nestled between some larger cities like Dallas to the west, and Tyler to the southeast, allowing families easy access to bigger city amenities when needed, while still enjoying the quieter, slower-paced life that Rains County has to offer. As of my knowledge cut-off in September 2021, the county seat was Emory.

Small Town Atmosphere: Rains County has a serene, small-town atmosphere that is perfect for raising a family. Crime rates are relatively low compared to other parts of Texas, and the people here are known for being friendly and community-oriented. The public schools in Rains County are known to offer a solid education, with small class sizes often ensuring personalized attention for students.

Outdoor Activities: If your family enjoys outdoor activities, Rains County has much to offer. Lake Tawakoni and Lake Fork, two of the largest lakes in Texas, border the county, offering great opportunities for fishing, boating, and bird watching. Lake Fork in particular is known as one of the premier bass fishing lakes in the country. You'll also find plenty of trails for hiking and biking in the area.

Community Events: Rains County hosts several events throughout the year, including the annual Rains County Founders Day Festival, which is a community celebration featuring a parade, live music, arts and crafts, and food vendors. It's a great chance to mingle with your new neighbors and immerse yourself in the local culture.

Shopping and Dining: When it comes to shopping and dining, you'll find a variety of small businesses, from quaint boutiques and antique shops to local family-owned restaurants, reflecting the region's culinary traditions. For more extensive shopping or dining experiences, the nearby cities of Greenville and Sulphur Springs are just a short drive away.

Healthcare: Healthcare needs are taken care of by several medical centers and clinics in the county and neighboring areas, with more specialized medical facilities located in the larger nearby cities.
